How do I let an organisation carry out a status check on my DBS certificate?
Once you have subscribed to the Update Service and linked your DBS certificate to your account, you will need to give your consent to the organisation to carry out a status check and show them your original paper DBS certificate.
They will record the certificate’s 12-digit reference number and your name and date of birth. After this they will go online and carry out a status check.
You will be able to see a full list of the organisations that have carried out a status check from your online account. Further information is available in the DBS Update Service guidance.
