How do I get my DBS certificate number?

We cannot provide certificate numbers. Certificate numbers can only be used in conjunction with a certificate. Certificate numbers do not tell employers important information such as:

* Criminal or safeguarding information.
* The date the check was done.
* The level of check done.
* If, and which, Barred Lists have been checked.
* The workforce the check was for, and if it is suitable for the role they are considering you for.
* The personal details on the certificate, which may be different to your current personal details. In this case they may need to carry out further ID checks.

All this information is shown on your certificate and is not available to view anywhere else.

If you have lost or damaged a paper certificate, we are not able to issue a reprint.

If your employer needs to see a DBS Certificate so that they can assess your suitability for the role they are offering, a new application for a DBS check will need to be submitted.
