Consent

There are different types of consent that can be granted they are:

  • upfront consent - as part of your basic DBS check application you can provide consent to a third party to view your basic check once it has been issued
  • auto consent - granted by you after the basic DBS check has been issued, to enable a third party who has a DBS online account to view your basic DBS result.
  • standalone consent - granted by you after the basic DBS check has been issued, to enable a third party who does not have a DBS online account to view your basic DBS result.

If you have created consent for a third party to view your online basic DBS check, you can manage the consent through your DBS online account which is linked to your DBS profile. If your accounts are not linked an icon 'DBS authorisation code' will be displayed in the top left hand corner of your screen.

For more information on consent, please refer to the ‘managing consent’ document, in the DBS online account guidance.
